WASP Asia, LGU Bugallon, and Project LAWA at BINHI Empower 200 Beneficiaries Through Digital Literacy and Entrepreneurship Training

BUGALLON, Pangasinan — The Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace (WASP Asia), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Bugallon and Project LAWA at BINHI, successfully conducted a Community Capacity Building Program on Digital Entrepreneurship, Social Media Safety, and Digital Literacy Awareness for 200 beneficiaries in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

The two day program was held at HATAKE Main in Barangay Hacienda and HATAKE West in Barangay Buenlag, reaching 120 and 80 participants respectively. The initiative supported the broader objectives of Project LAWA at BINHI by strengthening community resilience, digital awareness, and livelihood readiness among local beneficiaries.

The training featured two key learning sessions. Mark Angeles, Founder of Noypreneur, led the session on Basics of Digital Marketing for Entrepreneurship, where participants learned practical ways to use digital platforms for livelihood promotion, small business development, and community based enterprises.

Icely Recato Dy, Programs Manager of WASP Asia and former Chief Marketing Officer of the ASEAN Australia Strategic Youth Partnership, led the session on Social Media Safety and Responsible Digital Citizenship. Her session covered online scams, privacy protection, misinformation, cybersecurity basics, and responsible social media use.

The program brought together Project LAWA at BINHI beneficiaries, youth, entrepreneurs, community members, volunteers, and local leaders. It also complemented HATAKE’s ongoing work in food security, youth volunteerism, and community empowerment.

Through this initiative, WASP Asia and its partners highlighted the importance of combining livelihood development with digital safety education. By equipping communities with practical digital skills, the program aimed to help participants engage online more safely, responsibly, and productively. WASP Asia extends its appreciation to the LGU of Bugallon, Project LAWA at BINHI, HATAKE volunteers, speakers, organizers, and all community participants who made the activity possible.
