In a groundbreaking initiative, the Women's Alliance for Security and Peace (WASP) joined forces with the US Embassy through the Emerging Voices Grant, the Philippine Army, Cyber Battalion ASR, the Philippine National Police, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Miriam College Department of International Relations to host HERSAFE: Her Empowerment, Rights, Security, Advocacy, Freedom, and Equality. This flagship project unfolded over two days in a virtual space, drawing the participation of a robust gathering of over a hundred and eighty (180) attendees.
The event featured enlightening learning sessions, boasting speakers who are recognized as leading experts in the field of cybersecurity in the Philippines. These sessions were thoughtfully crafted to equip attendees with a holistic understanding of the cyberspace landscape in the country. Moreover, participants gained awareness about cyberattack techniques and procedures, along with insights into crucial legal aspects that empower and protect victims.
HERSAFE is not merely confined to the virtual realm; it's poised for a grand culmination with an in-person convention scheduled for November. This upcoming event is set to bring together 30 exceptional practitioners and promising young female leaders who are leaving an indelible mark in the field of cybersecurity.
WASP expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speakers and collaborative partners who played pivotal roles in making the recently concluded HERSAFE: Virtual Learning Sessions a resounding success. The echoes of empowerment, knowledge, and unity from this event are bound to reverberate for a long time to come.
