General Santos City, Philippines – October 5-6, 2024
The Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace (WASP) is proud to announce the successful completion of the 21st Life Skills and Livelihood Business Enterprise Service Training, held on October 5-6, 2024, at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City. The event, aimed at empowering the youth from Mindanao’s Tri-People communities, provided participants with essential life skills, business acumen, and cybersecurity training.
In partnership with the Mahintana Foundation, the Moro Youth Organization of Polomolok (MYOP), and 1LT Michael P. Jordan, Officer-in-Charge of Bravo Company, 38th Infantry Battalion, the training brought together young leaders from the region to engage in crucial discussions on cybersecurity awareness and digital responsibility. WASP worked closely with 1LT Jordan to deliver impactful cybersecurity sessions, educating the youth on how to safeguard their digital presence and protect themselves from emerging cyber threats.
The event covered a range of critical topics, including business skills, basic bookkeeping, financial reporting, and cybersecurity awareness. As a key resource person, 1LT Jordan focused on the rising threats in cyberspace, social media safety, and the importance of physical and digital security measures in today’s interconnected world.
Through the event’s Virtual Peace Conversation, the participants—representing various youth organizations, including members of the Red Cross and MYOP—engaged in meaningful dialogue about the role of digital safety in maintaining peace and security in the region.
WASP remains committed to its mission of empowering women and youth in underserved communities through education, skills training, and leadership development. By working with key partners such as 1Lt Jordan and local organizations, WASP continues to foster peace, security, and inclusion in Mindanao and beyond.
